Description
Webscale Networks is currently seeking a Linux focused Customer Support Representative, based in Bengaluru India.
As a Webscale Networks Support Engineer, you will be part of our India Support team who is responsible for supporting our clients via phone, email or chat. The primary responsibility of our support organization is to ensure our customers infrastructure stays up and running 24x7x365. You are a Linux enthusiast whose curiosity continuously improves your knowledge and skillset. You’ll own complex customer issues which may take several days or weeks to resolve, but you’ll engage all available resources and knowledge sources to find a solution.
As a Support Engineer, you will work with leading-edge software and cloud technologies. You will also assist customers during service related events, including creating support tickets and answering basic technical questions related to their environment and Webscale services. As needed, you will also be the primary contact who will provide coordinated escalation to advanced technical support engineers to resolve open tickets.
Due to the 24×7 operations of the business, Support Engineers may be required to provide on-call coverage overnight and on weekends and holidays while the global team is being built. Such shifts vary across team members and by month.
In this role you will:
- Support our clients, ensuring their infrastructures stay up and running 24/7 while working with leading-edge technology.
- Implement and Support complex scalable application infrastructure.
- Install, Configure, Deploy, Standardize, Automate, Update, Support, and Troubleshoot services for customers such as:
- LAMP Stack: Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP
- OS level concerns
- Database Services (MySQL, Redis)
- Application Servers
- Email Services
- Experience in debugging Ruby, Bash, or PHP a plus
- Load Balancing
- Host & network-based firewalls
- SSH
- DNS
- Version control (git)
- Configuration management (Chef and Ansible)
- AWS, Google and other cloud architectures
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience in Linux system administration having thorough knowledge and love of Linux operating system (preferably a Debian distribution)
- Strong knowledge of and familiarity with client/server software, DNS, and networking fundamentals including diagnostics with Linux tools
- Strong experience with LAMP stacks: Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP
- Experience working in a computer technical field, enterprise server environment and / or web hosting environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate technical issues to nontechnical and technical audiences
- Inherent problem-solver with desire to learn and take on responsibilities
Additional Helpful Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent work experience
- Experience with e-commerce applications – Magento, Drupal, Redis, WordPress, WooCommerce and others
