What is National Qualifier Test (NQT)?

National Qualifier Test (NQT) is a General Ability Test that assesses a candidate in the following areas:
Verbal Ability : Tests reading comprehension and written communication.
Numerical Ability : Covers basic numerical and statistical operations and tests the candidate’s ability to infer meaning from numerical information.
Reasoning Ability : Tests the candidate’s ability to apply deductive and inductive logic, and critical thinking in solving everyday problems.
Each candidate who completes the National Qualifier Test (NQT) gets a NQT Score. The NQT Score is applicable for all industries and job roles.
NQT Score is a prerequisite to appear for Industry NQT and Subject NQT.
The National Qualifier Test (NQT) is planned to be conducted every quarter. Candidates can take the tests again to improve their previous scores, if desired.
Note: The test will be conducted in English language only.

What is Industry NQT?

Industry NQT assesses awareness and understanding of candidates on a specific industry in the following areas:
Industry structure – domains/sub-domains
Operative language, processes and practices

What is the step-by-step process to register for National Qualifier Test (NQT)?

Following is the step-by-step process to register for “National Qualifier Test (NQT)”:
Click on “REGISTER NOW” button on the “National Qualifier Test (NQT)” page
Login with your TCS iON Digital Learning Hub credentials, if you are an existing user
ORSign up if you are a new user by clicking on “Create Account”, and enter all the required details. Once you have completed the sign up process, you can proceed with the NQT registration process.
Fill in all the required details once the registration page opens.
Click on “Submit” to complete the registration.
You will receive a successful registration message on your registered email ID/mobile number.
You can view the registration details from ‘View Details’ on the “National Qualifier Test (NQT)” page, and if required, edit your “Registration Form” on or before the registration closure date.
Note: Please ensure that your email ID and mobile number are correctly entered. All test related communication will be sent on the email ID/mobile number provided by you.

Who can apply for the National Qualifier Test (NQT)?

Candidates eligible to apply for the National Qualifier Test (NQT) should meet the below eligibility criteria:

What are the different modes of assessment available?

For the October 2020 schedule, National Qualifier Test (NQT) will be conducted in 2 modes:
1. Online Remote Proctored Assessment
2. In-Centre Assessment conducted at TCS iON Digital Zones
You can choose one of these options while registering, based on the computer and network infrastructure availability at your home.

When should I opt for Online Remote Proctored Assessment or In-Centre Assessment modes?

You should opt for Online Remote Proctored Assessment, if you want to take it online using a laptop/desktop. Please make sure the following requirements are met. Mobile devices are not supported for this assessment.
Windows/Ubuntu OS
Google Chrome browser
Minimum 2 mbps Internet connectivity
A working webcam
If you do not have the required infrastructure for the Online Remote Proctored Assessment, you can choose In-Centre option to appear for the test physically from a TCS iON Digital Zone.

Where can I view my completed registration details? How can I edit my submitted application?

You can view the registration details from ‘View Details’ on the “National Qualifier Test (NQT)” page, using your TCS iON Digital Learning Hub credentials. You can edit your application on or before the registration closure date.

I forgot to apply for Subject NQT – Programming. What should I do now?

You can view the registration details from ‘View Details’ on the “National Qualifier Test (NQT)” page, using your TCS iON Digital Learning Hub credentials. You can edit your application to include the same on or before the registration closure date.

Can I change my mode of test, from Online Remote Proctored Assessment to In-Centre or vice versa?

You can view the registration details from ‘View Details’ on the “National Qualifier Test (NQT)” page, using your TCS iON Digital Learning Hub credentials. You can edit your application on or before the registration closure date, and change the mode of test from Online Remote Proctored Assessment to In-Centre assessment and choose your city preference for the test. Similarly, you can also change mode of test from In-Centre to Remote Proctored Assessment.

 What happens if I am unable to give the NQT because of power failure or due to my inability to travel to the test centre?

For Online Remote Proctored Assessment:In genuine cases, as confirmed by the remote proctor who is monitoring your test, you will be given additional time in line with the time lost due to such issues, up to a maximum of 30 minutes. You can also take the next NQT, in the next cycle, as and when the dates are announced.
For In-Centre Assessment:Since NQTs are planned to be conducted every quarter, you can take the next NQT, in the next cycle, as and when the dates are announced.

How is proctoring done in Online Remote Proctored Assessment?

When you are taking the NQT online, the computer will record your images randomly multiple times during the test. These images will be compared with the image that you have captured during the initial registration process. If any malpractice is detected your test will be treated as NULL and VOID, and your NQT scores will be WITHHELD and not shared with you.

 I have chosen Online Remote Proctored Assessment. How do I make sure that my computer is suitable for taking the test at home?

If you have selected your test mode as “Online Remote Proctored Assessment”, TCS iON will conduct a mock test to check the infrastructure readiness for your computer. You will receive a communication by email confirming when these checks are to be done and if these checks are successful. In case these checks fail, we will try and help you to fix these issues.
If the issues cannot be fixed, you will be given an option to edit your application and select the test mode as “In-Centre Assessment”.

When and how will I receive the hall ticket/login credentials?

Once you complete your registration process:
If you have opted for “Online Remote Proctored Assessment”, you will receive the login credentials on your registered email ID, 2 days prior to the assessment. In case you have not received your login credentials, you can reach out to TCS iON HelpDesk (1800 266 6282) for support. You will not receive any hall ticket for this mode of assessment.
If you have opted for “In-Centre Assessment”, you will receive the Hall Ticket on your email ID, 2 days prior to the assessment. In case you have not received your hall ticket 2 days prior to the assessment, you can reach out to TCS iON HelpDesk (1800 266 6282) for support.

How do I familiarise myself with Online Remote Proctored Assessment? If I face any issues during the test, whom should I reach out to?

TCS iON will share links for taking mock tests on your registered email ID. You can take the mock test to familiarise yourself with the whole test process.

How will the results be communicated?

After you complete the test, results will be processed and your scores will be shared to your registered email ID and mobile number that you provided during the test registration process. Is there any cut-off score or percentage to pass the NQT?

There is no cut-off score or PASS/FAIL criteria set to report your performance. You will be given a score that indicates your current ability in the topics that are assessed.

What are the next steps after getting NQT Score?

You can apply to any company that recognises the NQT score and indicate your NQT registration number and score in the job application form of that company.
Depending on the NQT score you have secured, you can apply to companies and job roles that accept such level of NQT scores.

Will TCS iON share my score with all the companies to help me get a job? Will TCS iON arrange job interviews for me?

TCS iON will not arrange for any job interviews. You need to apply to the companies yourself. Your NQT scores will be shared only with those companies that you have applied for a job and when they ask for it.

Note: Each company eligibility/filtering/selection criterion is based on the rules defined by them on the levels of different abilities required for a job and may also have additional eligibility/filtering/selection criteria.

21. How long will my score be valid? Can I take another attempt to improve my NQT scores?

Your NQT score is valid for 2 years from the date of test.
There is no limit on the number of attempts. You can write the next NQT (as and when it is announced) to improve your NQT scores. The highest score from among your attempts, will be considered as your current NQT score.
