PostgreSQL Database Administrator
Job Description:
We are looking for a PostgreSQL Database Administrator to help manage a large enterprise fleet in the cloud. The successful candidate will have deep database knowledge, very strong problem-solving skills, strong communication skills and the ability to self-manage as needed and project management skills.
Experience with other database management systems such as SQL Server or Oracle is desirable but not required. Cloud Experience also desirable
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide production support for PostgreSQL databases and clusters on AWS (RDS and Aurora)
- Be part of the on-call rotation for emergency issues
- Assist development teams with non-production database issues
- Mentor other DBAs as they learn PostgreSQL
- Develop and maintain monitoring and troubleshooting scripts/SQL
- Backup and Recovery tasks
- Disaster Recovery planning and execution
- Capacity planning
Required qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of production PostgreSQL Database Administration
- Experience tuning SQL queries
- Thorough understanding of PostgreSQL interals (MVCC, Statistics, Locking, etc.)
- Experience with AWS
- Scripting/Programing skills with Bash and/or Python
- Problem-solving skills
- Ability to learn new technology quickly
- Comfortable working in a team environment
- Ability to follow instructions
