Girl Hackathon is a program for women students in computer science and allied courses across India.
Registration Form of Google Girl Hackathon Program 2022:
Teams will be required to register to enter the hackathon. Please identify a team leader and register your team. Multiple registrations will not be permitted. Please ensure there is only one registration per team.
Team leaders may use the Girl Hackathon form to register based on the team rules below. Please ensure you register your team in accordance with the guidelines mentioned or the team will not qualify for the next round.
Group A: 2024 and 2025 Graduates: Bachelors, Masters and Integrated Dual Degrees and related courses within computer science and allied branches.
Group B: 2022 and 2023 Graduates: Bachelors, Masters and Integrated Dual Degrees and related courses within computer science and allied branches.
Registration guidelines of Google Girl Hackathon:
- To enter the hackathon, the team leader must complete the registration form and provide required information about the members of the team.
- The Team Leader has to register on behalf of the team. All participants will be required to share their emails. Please submit secondary emails, in the event that we are unable to reach you on your primary email. You are required to keep yourself updated on all emails issued to you.
- Registrations will close on March 9, 2022 at 11:59 AM IST

- Please ensure there is only one registration per team.
- Please ensure teams are created with the above grouping guidelines in mind.
- Teams may be mixed as long as the participants belong to the approved group graduate batches. Ex: 2022 graduates may not team with 2025 graduate(s). However 2022 graduates may team with 2023 graduate(s).
- Participants must be from the same campus only. Student teams with members from different campuses will only be permitted if random selection is opted and the decision will be made by the Google team on a need basis.
- In the event that your team is diluted due to the unavailability of your members and is no longer available to participate because of unforeseeable circumstances, you may opt for random selection in the form. This will allow our team to add you to a group that has availability.
- Teams may opt to receive participants to their existing team if there happens to be a vacancy.
- In the event that no groups have an availability, student(s) will not move forward.
It has been designed to provide a platform for women in the engineering campus space to showcase their coding skills and promote creative solutions for real time technical challenges. This virtual hackathon will challenge the innovation and problem solving skills of the participants and inspire them to creatively engage with Google. This is a team based program for women only and winning teams will be offered the opportunity to interview with Google and win exciting cash prizes!
Program structure of Google Girl Hackathon:
The hackathon will include three stages: Google Online Challenge, Design Document Round, and Virtual Hackathon Round.
Round one: Google Online Challenge (GOC)
All participants will be required to participate in the Google Online Challenge. This is a coding challenge that will assess participants online in the areas of coding/puzzles. The GOC will take place for 60 min (between 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. IST) and all team members will be required to participate. Teams will be judged on a group average and will proceed to the next round based on group performance. The GOC will take place on March 19, 2022. The results for GOC and the groups advancing to the next round will be announced on March 24, 2022.
Round two: Design document round
- The design document round consists of a tech theme/challenge that requires innovative solutions. All participant groups will have the same theme to ensure fairness.
- The theme for the hackathon is Future of Learning.
- If you have advanced from the GOC round, a design document sample with the theme will be shared with you. Please make a copy of the document and use the same to build your pitch. The document will be shared on March 24, 2022.
- Please do not use this document to enter code. You will have the next round to showcase the same.
- Teams may not change or alter their solutions once submitted.
- Only one submission per team is allowed.
- Design Document Submissions will close on April 7, 2022.
- Results of the design document round will be announced on April 13, 2022 with a guideline to the final hackathon round.
Evaluation criteria:
Submissions will be reviewed and scored in accordance with the below metrics:
- Innovation (30%)
- Technical Design (30%)
- Impact and Sustainability (20%)
- Feasibility and implementation (20%)
Round three: Virtual hackathon (national finale)
- The virtual hackathon round will enable the final teams to present their final solutions to a panel of judges.
- Teams will need to share a working demo/prototype and code repository on April 22, 2022.
- The hackathon round will challenge your coding, user experience and innovative skills. The round will take place on April 27, 2022.
- Final teams will be required to present their solutions for 15 min each only – 8 min for presentation and 7 min for Q&A.
- Final winners and runners Up from Group A and Group B will be shared on April 27, 2022.
Evaluation criteria:
Judging of rounds will be performed by a panel of judges selected by Google. Please note that any entry is subject to and evaluated based on the following broad parameters:
- Technical difficulty and complexity (30%)
- Innovation (20%)
- Impact and sustainability (20%)
- User experience (15%)
- Presentation and communication (15%)
Please note: Teams are prohibited from communicating with any outside party and cannot solicit assistance from anyone (including staff, faculty advisor, other students) during the time they are participants of the hackathon, unless permitted by Google. Google’s and/or any judge’s decision is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into in relation to such decision.

All prizes may be revoked if a team is found to have violated any of the Rules or instructions of Google or is disqualified. The business and location related to the pre-placement interview offers for internship and final hiring will be at the discretion of Google.
The program is spread over a period of 6 weeks across different stages of the hackathon and the participants are expected to be available to work on the challenge with their teams during this duration as and when they progress through each stage.
Rules and regulations
To participate in the hackathon:
Students must be enrolled in an engineering college in India and must be studying in the year as submitted/stated during registration. Students may only register as teams of 3.Students must be Indian nationals. Foreign national students are not allowed to participate in this hackathon. Please only enroll for the hackathon with your university email credentials. Please also add your personal emails as secondary in the form. This is a women only student program.
Verifying eligibility:
Google reserves the right to verify your eligibility. You agree to provide Google with any proof of eligibility requested by Google and your refusal or failure to timely provide such proof may result in the team’s disqualification from the hackathon.
Participation as a team:
- Participation will be through teams of eligible students composed of three students (minimum and maximum) and enrolled at an engineering campus in India. If you wish to have mixed team members, ensure that you belong to the appropriate graduate grouping that has been available to you.
- All team members must independently meet the eligibility requirements of the hackathon.
- A student cannot be a member of more than one team.
- Modification to a team’s composition or team details after registration/communicating acceptance to participate is not allowed.
- Team members who compete at the beginning of the hackathon must participate throughout the hackathon period, where the team is shortlisted for the next round.
- In the event that a team is unable to proceed to the next round post round one, the student may opt to join a team that has an availability. This option will be made available during your registration. Please ensure to select the same.
- Teams cannot change post round two.
- Any deviation from the above will result in immediate disqualification of the entire team.
Team leader and team name:
Each team must nominate one member as the team leader and may not be changed during the hackathon period.
- The team leader is the primary point of contact for the team during the hackathon.
- Each group must decide on a name for their team. Your team name must be neutral and brief, without the use of offensive or vulgar language or violate the intellectual property rights of others. Google reserves the right to request for a change of the team name in its sole discretion.
- All communication will take place through the team leader.
