Position Details:

Primary responsibilities:

  • Planning the release, delivery and implementation of project change requests, production fixes, operational enhancements, and application upgrades
  • Release content and delivery planning for both planned and unplanned releases, patches, and hotfixes
  • Co-ordination and tracking of all release deliverables and dependencies (both internal and external) for all CSG in-scope applications (including both CSG owned and 3rd party products)
  • The maintenance and management (from a code/delivery perspective) of all QA, SIT, and UAT environments spanning all CSG in-scope applications   
  • Engagement with the relevant platform/environment support teams for the co-ordination and scheduling of deployment, environment, and/or configuration requests
  • Works with the CSG delivery manager, CSG test manager, and various project managers in order to facilitate release planning, deliverables, and implementations according to the defined release roadmap
  • Provides strong technical support and leadership to a distributed team supporting multiple applications
  • Interacts and communicates daily with internal & 3rd party vendors to manage deliverables and delivery dates
  • Attend and participate in all relevant release planning, change request/project prioritization, environment scheduling, etc. meetings
  • Responsible for maintaining positive and ongoing relationships with both internal teams, suppliers, and the end customer
  • Supports the L3, incident, and change management teams, as well as providing a necessary back-up for either by being the single point of contact for coordinating production changes and incidents and fulfilling the applicable line management function (as and when required)
  • Assists all relevant test managers with the monitoring, tracking, and coordination of defects and associated patches/fixes
  • Pro-actively identify release or deployment-related issues and risks in a timely manner and provides appropriate mitigation and contingency plans to the team
  • Key participant in release planning meetings, go/no-go sessions, production support forums, release post-mortems, release related communications, and all necessary handovers to the change and deployment teams
  • Engage with the broader CSG release management community to look at organizational process improvements, better use of automation, and the application of continual improvements
  • Management and mentoring (if applicable) of any all other members of the release management team, which includes managing escalations, conducting performance reviews, and so forth
  • Provide daily, weekly and monthly reporting (as required)

Desired Skills and experience:

  • Degree qualification and/or relevant experience
  • 5 years’ experience within a software development environment
  • Experience in coordinating activities within a distributed team
  • Experience with ticket management systems (e.g. USD / Jazz / Remedy)
  • Knowledge and application of ITIL practices
  • Good teamwork abilities/skills
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, developers, architects, testers and project/programme managers
  • Outgoing, action-oriented, self-starter who enjoys a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge and experience of high volume transactional systems
  • High attention to detail and quality orientated
  • Ability to work well under pressure, and with a sense of urgency, whilst having to multitask
  • A willingness to at times be on-call / standby outside of normal business hours or to accommodate flexible working hours
