Amazon Code Challenge – Application Support Engineer: Amazon Code Challenge is a coding-focused challenge intended for hiring Support Engineers. The challenge has two rounds to it. First-round is an MCQ round with candidates scoring more than 40 marks moving to the next coding-based round.

Round 1 (MCQ) has a time limit of 30 min with no negative marks.

Round 2 (coding) has a time limit of 1 hour 30 minutes and you have 3 attempts.

Amazon is looking for talented and enthusiastic support engineers to join the Kindle Content Organization. The Kindle Support Engineering team is responsible for providing accurate and timely royalty calculations and accounting entries for all Kindle and print-on-demand book sales. Publishers and authors of all shapes and sizes rely on Amazon to correctly account for all book sales so that they are paid correctly.

The Amazon Kindle Support Engineering team provides tier 2&3 services production support and is also responsible for providing multifaceted services to the Kindle digital product family of development teams and working with production operations teams for software product release coordination and deployment. This job requires you to hit the ground running and your ability to learn quickly and work on disparate and overlapping tasks that will define your success.

Basic qualifications

  • B.E or B.Tech in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience
  • Strong knowledge of programming, Operating System and Data structures concepts
  • Ability to understand technical specifications, distributed systems architecture and ability to deep dive on service/application logs.

Preferred qualifications

  • Comfortable communicating cross-functionally and across management levels in formal and informal settings
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to deep dive to understand root cause of the issues
  • Shows creativity and initiative to improve self-service tools and effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of Python, Perl, or other scripting language is a plus
Job Description
  • Provide support of incoming tickets, including extensive troubleshooting tasks, with responsibilities covering multiple products, features and services
  • Work on operations and maintenance driven coding projects, primarily in Python, Perl, or shell scripts, web technologies, with the potential for Java based projects
  • Software deployment support in staging and production environments
  • Develop tools to aid operations and maintenance
  • System and Support status reporting
  • Ownership of one or more Digital products or components
  • Customer notification and workflow coordination and follow-up to maintain service level agreements
  • Work with support team for handing-off or taking over active support issues and creating a team specific knowledge base and skill set

Rules

  1. Time duration of Amazon Code Challenge – Application Support Engineer would be 30 minutes for MCQ Round and 90 minutes for Coding Round.
  2. You will be able to access the problem statement once you click the “Start Test” button.
  3. Participants will have 3 attempts for the coding round.
  4. The Problem Statement page has a Live Coding Environment where you can code and compile your code.
  5. To participate in the coding finale, the participant can use any of the following desktop browsers: Internet Explorer 10+, Google Chrome 53+, Mozilla Firefox 60+.
  6. Coding finale problems can not be taken on mobile.
  7. Once the individual completes writing the code and compiles the code, a default test case will be used to check the code. Please note: No score is allotted for passing the default test case.
  8. You have to complete the rounds in one go without closing/logging out of the coding window. Contest timer will run continuously once you have started attempting the problem.
  9. In case any participant has any concern/query related to issues like login, code compiling, code submission and result, it is recommended that you post your query using the “Need Help” interface. You cannot discuss with any other participant. Participants cannot ask anything about the question’s problem to anyone.
